Upon starting my guitar journey with Tom, I was nervous of failure and not being able to meet standards. But with Tom, I could always relate to him, and he made the environment positive and fun which rid me of any concerns and really made me look forward to and enjoy his lessons. The fact that he treats me like a friend makes my lessons way more enjoyable, as we always can chat about our interests and hobbies. Tom takes teaching guitar to another level and I highly recommend him as he is kind, funny and a very good teacher. Tom makes it so I don’t just learn songs that he thinks are good but lets me pick out songs that I like to listen to and takes me through them step by step explaining techniques and things to do to improve. He also provides his own songs that vary levels and speeds to insure that there is something at everyone’s level to play.

"My son, Max started guitar lessons with Tom 6 years ago. Max initially was very keen to learn guitar but did not want to be pushed into performing in front of others and Tom made it comfortable from the start that just learning without performing is ok. Over time, Max has become more comfortable with playing in front of people and is a confident in his skills and ability. Tom seems to be able to create a fun learning environment while his lessons are also well planned. He provides everything that is needed to progress at home outside of lessons example backing tracks and new songs to learn including many great rock songs which excite us as parents from the 80’s and 90’s. His support has been brilliant in the build-up to Rockschool exams and Max has gained knowledge in music theory that certainly support his learning.
